The Robey Theatre Company’s mission is to develop and produce plays about global Black experiences.
The organization was found in 1994 and began as a Readers’ Circle centering on “Black Classics.” The Robey Theatre Company was formally incorporated in 1996 by founders Ben Guillory and Danny Glover, veteran actors and friends who are dedicated to ensuring opportunities for theatre actors in Hollywood. We are a community of artists and creatives who believe in the transformational power of plays. We are dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for BIPOC artists and creatives. Our approach is collaborative and encourages exploration.
The Robey Theatre Company has and will always serve our community. In the words of Dr. DuBois, "By us, for us, about us, and near us."
