Noreen McClendon Bio
Noreen McClendon, Executive Director of Concerned Citizens of South Central Los Angeles (CCSCLA). She is responsible for the day-to-day management of the 501 c 3, public benefit corporation founded in 1985. CCSCLA had developed over 700 and manages over 400 units of affordable housing, organized over 57 block clubs, provided job training and placement assistance for more than 200 community residents, provided entertainment industry training to over 150 youth ages 13-18, developed two soccer field projects, will open an 80,000 s.f. grocery store-anchored shopping center in early 2014 and been a co-sponsor of the Central Avenue Jazz Festival since its inception in 1995.
Ms. McClendon received her education in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania public school system. She studied Electrical Engineering at Clark College (now Clark Atlanta University), received a Certificate in Engineering and Construction Management from UCLA, completed the USC Minority Program in Real Estate, the Local Initiative Support Corporation’s Affordable Housing Development program and graduated from the Development Training Institute.
Ms. McClendon has served on the Board of Directors of the Mentor Business Institute, Baldwin Hills Youth Football Association, People for Parks, the Watts Gang Task Force and served as an Environmental Affairs Commissioner for the City of Los Angeles.
