Dwain A. Perry
Associate Director / Producer
Dwain Perry graduated from Northwestern University with a B.S. in Communications with a concentration in Theatre. After spending over ten years in Chicago and working in regional theatre across the country, Los Angeles is now where he calls home. More specifically, The Robey Theatre Company. Dwain made his directorial debut at the Robey with their production of Permanent Collection.
Other credits include: A House with No Walls (Asst. Director), Bronzeville (Actor), and The River Niger (Director).
Dylan Southard is a dramaturg, director and writer, as well as the co-Artistic Director of the Los Angeles-based company Needtheater. Locally, he has worked with the Center Theatre Group, The Geffen Playhouse, The Theatre @ Boston Court, Native Voices at The Autry, Lower Depth Theatre Ensemble, Uranium Madhouse and the Network of Ensemble Theatres. Additionally, he is an associate artist with the international new play development program LoNyLa and a frequent contributor to the theater websites Howlround and L.A. Bitter Lemons. Dylan trained as a dramaturg under a two year fellowship with Centerstage Baltimore and is a graduate of Wesleyan University.
JC Cadena is an actress and producer. Her expertise is in overseeing the day-to-day activities of a company to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of Support Services through improvements to each function, as well as coordination and communication between functions. Originally from Ecuador and raised in Virginia she now resides in Los Angeles. She holds a degree from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles and also a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from George Mason University. Currently she holds the title Queen of Latinos Unidos Los Angeles Foundation.
Chris Carnell is a multimedia consultant and IT specialist with more than 15 years of experience in print, online media, and video. He learned web programming during the onset of the “dynamic web” and has been designing interactive websites ever since. Chris is a Microsoft Certified Professional and an A+ Certified Technician. He is currently practicing mobile development and social media marketing. Chris is grateful to be working with The Robey Theatre Company, increasing their web presence and growing their social media reach.
Marva Smith is a private consultant specializing in nonprofit management, leadership development and program development. She brings to the Robey family more than 30 years of expertise in the field; including having worked many years for Congresswoman Maxine Waters and Community Build, Inc. Additionally, Marva is a vocalist and theater and film actress.
Christopher Jones is a high school senior at Centennial High School. Coming from a low income area made him curious about life and people. Thus his passion for acting was born. Christopher came to The Robey Theatre Company to get experience so that soon he can become a professional. His dreams and aspirations will surely grant him success.
ReSheda D. Terry
ReSheda D. Terry is a native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas! She started training in piano and dance lessons at an early age where she quickly discovered her passion for performing. While attending a performing arts school in elementary, she immediately joined choir and over the years found her greatest joy in acting. Graduating with a degree in Biology, with plans to enter the health profession, ReSheda soon realized how that same salve could come through storytelling. That’s when she decided to move to NYC and train at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. She furthered her training at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco which has led her down to LA. Since moving, she has booked short films and most recently an upcoming web-series, Nice Guys Finish Last.
Yi Zhang is a second year MPA student in USC Price School of Public Policy. She is originally from China and is extremely interested in Nonprofit Management and International Development. She is an intern in Robey to help with donor information, fundraising projects and other office duties as required.
