Drumroll Please: Announcing the 2022 Fall Production!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The 2022 Paul Robeson Theatre Festival featured stage readings of plays developed in the Commission Play Project. It was presented free to the public and allowed our audiences to witness important steps in a play's developmental process and to provide valuable feedback.

Five plays penned by five playwrights who had developed their talents for several years in the Robey Playwrights Lab were commissioned in 2021. Each playwright was assigned one year in which to write their play.

Each play was given a live reading during the three-day festival. One of those plays would prove ready and be chosen for the 2022 Fall Production. I am pleased to announce that Man's Favor Devil's Plan by Kwik Jones with our dramaturg Dylan Southard directed by C. Julian White will have its world premiere on October 22, 2022.

It is important to note that the Commissioned Play Project is not a competition. It is a means to encourage playwrights in their journey and nurture their developing craft. At the end of this process is the opportunity for selection for a full production with The Robey Theatre Company. Our Teams have begun pre-production work and will be integral to making the many moving parts work. We hope to see you at the theatre this fall for the world premiere of Man's Favor Devils Plan.
